Biography

Chef David Rooney joined Catering Creations in January of 2007.  He came to us from Margarite's Catering after they closed due to the owner's retirement. He worked as Margarite's Sous Chef and his experience with off-site catering spans back to 2001. 

Chef Rooney is our Sous Chef which is a classical term for "Second Chef in Charge".  You will also see him at many events working as an Event Kitchen Manager.  He is hard working and always eager to please our clients.  He has a quick wit and a smile that is sure to make you and your guests feel completely at ease.   

Chef Rooney attended Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, AZ where he graduated at the top of his class. At school, he had the opportunity to assist Celebrity Chef Michael Shlow, Owner of Radius in Seattle and Author of "It's About Time", to prepare an elegant meal for a chef's wine tasting dinner. 

Chef Rooney plays a very large part in creating new menu items for our company. He has catered everything from large extravegant weddings to small personal home parties.  He was excited to have had the chance to meet Warren Buffet and celebrity Billy Baldwin at a Berkshire Hathaway event that he catered with our company.

David is the proud father of 2 lovely baby girls, ages 3 years and 3 months.

Awards & Special Projects

  • Culinary Team Leader at the 2013 "Harmony at the Hard Rock" in Las Vegas, NV for the Catersource Convention in Collaboration with Catering By Design from Denver, CO.  And in previous years:  2012 for the Monday Night "Pure Sensation" event at Caesar's Palace and 2011 "Tuesday Night at the Marquee" at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
  • 3rd Place People's Choice Award Winner of the Visiting Nurse's Association's Art and Soup Culinary Challenge:  "Battle of the Soups" for his “Thanksgiving in a Bowl” - A Butternut Squash and Parsnip Soup with Turkey, Sage, Bacon Croquettes and a Cranberry Creme Fraiche, February 2010
  • Chef Demonstrator and Instructor for Council Bluffs Elementary Schools, 2009-2012
  • Completion of Catering Continuing Education Programs sponsored by Catersource in Las Vegas in 2008-2013
